Central Oʻahu Agriculture and Food Hub*

In follow-up to the Whitmore Community Food Hub Master Plan and Environmental Assessment that was approved in 2019, UHCDC was contracted by the Agribusiness Development Corporation to re-engage stakeholders in order to 1) gather more in depth community and user input 2) refine the programming and organization of the site 3) understand infrastructure needs 4) explore financial models for the development of the food hub 5) share information with stakeholders 6) assist the state in identifying next steps for a public private partnership development and to guide future professional design teams.

The food hub is envisioned as a campus that houses spaces for food processing, value-added processing, packaging, storage, cooking, and distribution; a DOE centralized kitchen to gather food from local producers to prepare, cook, and distribute to regional schools; warehouse and office space for small food and agriculture related businesses and support organizations; and workforce housing. For more information on the project, please see our Project Storyboard Website.

*Previously named Whitmore Community Food Hub.
