We are proud to work with public partners, allied professional organizations, and university departments to host public events that share knowledge and promote discourse surrounding the critical issues facing Hawaiʻi.

Symposiums

In 2017, the UHM School of Architecture, UHCDC, AIA Honolulu, UH Office of Sustainability, and USGBC jointly hosted the first Building Voices event, which became an annual knowledge sharing initiative for the university and professional community. For more information on the past four years of Building Voices and future iterations, go to our Building Voices website. UHCDC also hosts smaller speaker panels and seminar series that gather local and global experts on issues related to our mission and values.

Exhibitions

We combine our architecture, interior, graphic, and experience design thinking into exhibitions that aim at participation and new formats and mediums for exchange.

Competitions

We invite students, faculty, professionals, thinkers, and makers from across the globe to explore and envision solutions to our local challenges through design competitions. To learn more, see our 2017 Building Voices International Design Competition and 2018 Building Voices: Honolulu Connects Culture and Performing Arts Corridor Student Design Competition.
